Presenter:

Dr. Catherine Greisch is a clinical psychologist currently completing a Postdoctoral Fellowship with the University of Colorado's Wellness Leadership Institute, with a focus on program development, implementation, and evaluation. The fellowship involves a partnership with Jefferson Center for Mental Health, where Dr. Greisch is currently developing and implementing wellness programming that aims to improve health literacy and outcomes through direct service, education and outreach, and community partnership.

Description:

Dr. Greisch will present an experiential account of the development and implementation process of a school-based, multi-dimensional wellness program that incorporates mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and self-efficacy tools for 7th and 8th graders. This presentation will include a framework for conceptualizing youth wellness in an educational context, challenges and obstacles of implementation, and an overview of the program curriculum.

CHES/MCHES Credits:

SOPHE, including its chapters, is a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) to receive up to one (1) total Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH). Maximum Advanced-level continuing education contact hours available are one (1).
